NEW DELHI: Facebook-owned Instagram launched Reels -- its TikTok rival -- last year. With Instagram Reels, you can create short musical video formats like the ones found on TikTok. It also allows you to record and edit 15-second video clips. You can also set to the music of your choice on the clip. You are also allowed to use audio from other users’ videos, similar to TikTok.
Now it seems that Instagram will soon roll out a new feature in Reels in order to give tough competition to TikTok. According to Android and iOS developer Alessandro Paluzzi, Instagram is considering offering monetary bonuses to Reel users.
Paluzzi was digging in some back-end code when he found this upcoming feature. He also shared a screenshot of the same on Twitter.
As per the shared screenshot, Instagram users will be reportedly asked to share their favourite Reels. After this, they would be required to hit a certain milestone after which they will start earning the cash. However, the whole criteria for earning the money is not disclosed yet.
This is not the first time that a social media platform is offering cash benefits in return. Last year Snapchat also began offering $1 million per day to the most entertaining clips on the platform.
Apart from this, recently, YouTube also announced 'Shorts Funds' , a prize pool of $100 million which will be distributed to YouTube Shorts creators.
Recently, Instagram rolled out the support of Insights for Reels and Live to help creators and businesses better. The company said that this is being done to allow creators and businesses to understand how their content is performing.
For instance, for Reels, Instagram will show new metrics including Plays, Accounts Reached, Likes, Comments, Saves, and Shares. As for Lives, the app will show Accounts Reached, Peak Concurrent Viewers, Comments, and Shares.
